Including in the field of Manufacturing Industry, especially those in Indonesia. Sandblasting technology is now considered a modern technology that is increasingly developing following the development of the world industry.

Sand Blasting is one of the equipment used to perform surface treatment processes using high-speed steel abrasives. Here are some uses of Sandblasting to obtain excellent cleaning and surface preparation for secondary/finishing operations, such as:

  1. Cleaning of iron, steel, non-cast parts, forging, etc.
  2. Mechanical cleaning of sheets, rods, coil wire, etc.
  3. Shot peening ( cold working process used to produce compressive residual stress layers and modify the mechanical properties of metals and composites). Its function is to change mechanical properties (increase resistance to reduced performance in springs, gears, etc.)

Operational sandblasting performed using high pressure will smooth rough surfaces. There are several types of sandblasting processes, one of which is soda blasting which is a process used in welding applications. It is also used to remove excess welding and to clean the surface.

Sandblasting is popular as an abrasive blasting machine with an operational way of pushing a stream of abrasive material to the surface under high pressure. This machine is able to produce a surface that is initially rough to be smooth and flat. In addition, with Sand Blasting, you can harden a smooth surface, shape a surface, or remove surface contaminants.

Sandblasting machines use glass beads to achieve a good surface finish on cutting tools in our industry. This is achieved by pushing the glass particles at high speeds. The glass beads are first heated to a temperature of 170o C so that they can move smoothly through the hopper and mixer.

Hot glass particles are poured into hopper, and enter the mixer where it will be mixed with compressed air. The compressed air mixture and sand exit the mixer. The sand material in the sandblasting process is very small and can move in the air under high pressure. This material can be worked by hand posing health risks and is less productive than using machines.
