Role of Powered Fluid Systems in various Industries

Powered fluid systems, which include hydraulic and pneumatic systems, play a key role in supporting human activities both in daily life and in the modern industrial sector. These systems utilize energy sources such as air compressors for pneumatics and pumps for hydraulics, driven by electric motors, to generate large pressures with simple methods. Storage devices such as accumulators (hydraulics) and air tanks (pneumatics) increase the operational efficiency of the system.

Energy is a fundamental need for humans to carry out daily activities, both on a domestic and industrial scale. In the context of technology, powered fluid systems consisting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems form the operational backbone of various machines and equipment. Hydraulic systems use liquids (usually oil) to transfer power, while pneumatic systems utilize compressed air.

Both rely on major energy sources, such as pump (hydraulic) and air (pneumatic) compressors, which are driven by electric motors. Storage devices such as accumulators and air tanks are used to improve system efficiency. This article aims to outline the functions of powered fluid systems, the role of pumps in industry, and their contribution to automation and operational efficiency.

  1. Powered Fluid Systems: Hydraulics and Pneumatics
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems are technologies that utilize fluids (liquid or gas) to generate, control and transfer power.

a. Hydraulic System

  • Hydraulic systems use fluids, usually hydraulic oil, to transfer energy. The main component of the system is the pump, which is driven by an electric motor to produce pressurized fluid flow. Accumulator used as a storage device to maintain pressure and improve system efficiency.

b. Pneumatic System

  • Pneumatic systems utilize compressed air generated by an air compressor as an energy source. An air tank (receiver) is used to store the pressurized air, ensuring a steady supply during operation. These systems are often used in applications that require fast and light movements, such as in industrial robots, pneumatic tools, and production line automation systems.
