Use of Air Compressor in Sandblasting Project

Use of Air Compressor in Sandblasting Project

Sandblasting is a job that involves the utilization of compressed air to disperse abrasive material with a fine texture such as soft sand. This sand is thrown at the workpiece with the aim of removing rust, paint and scale.
The existence of various scales is due to heat, oil and grease stains, and others. By using compressed air, it is possible to clean, smooth, and shape various surfaces quickly.

Use of Air Compressor in Sandblasting project
In sandblasting projects, you need to pay attention to the size of the air compressor, as this depends on three factors: sandblaster nozzle size, CFM (air volume), and PSI (air pressure).
The two types of air compressors suitable for sandblasting projects are as follows:
1. Reciprocating Air Compressor: This type of compressor has a simpler design and is portable. So it is ideal if used for sandblasting projects. These compressors usually have lower CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) and pressure than rotary compressors.
2. Rotary Screw Air Compressor:
This type of compressor is larger in size, but has more power than the reciprocating type. This type of compressor is capable of providing high-pressure airflow. In regular use, this compressor is ideal for sandblasting projects.

You can choose the right air compressor for sandblasting work. But there are several factors that must be considered, including the following:
- Project Size and Scope: Determine the CFM and pressure requirements based on the size and complexity of your sandblasting project.
- Surface Area: Calculate the surface area to be sprayed to estimate the CFM required.
- Nozzle Size: The nozzle size affects the air consumption rate.
- Duty Cycle: Choose a compressor with an appropriate duty cycle to ensure it can handle the duration of your sandblasting job.
- Portability: Consider portability requirements if you need to move the compressor frequently.
- Maintenance: Choose a compressor with easily accessible maintenance points and available replacement parts.
How Air Compressors are Used in the Sandblasting Industry. In sandblasting work, high-pressure air is required.
By utilizing an air compressor, air will be available automatically. An Air Compressor is a mechanical device that generates and supplies the high-pressure air needed to push abrasive materials.
